Bruce Patton
Co-founder of the Harvard Negotiation Project and co-author of Getting to Yes, whose work on principled negotiation shaped modern conflict resolution.
About
Bruce Patton co-founded the Harvard Negotiation Project and held the Thaddeus R. Beal Professorship at Harvard Law School. He co-authored Getting to Yes with Roger Fisher and William Ury — the foundational text in principled negotiation — and later Difficult Conversations with Douglas Stone and Sheila Heen. His contribution spans both books: the move from positional bargaining to interests-based negotiation, and from debate to mutual inquiry in high-stakes personal conversations.
