Sheila Heen teaches negotiation at Harvard Law School and co-founded Triad Consulting Group. She co-authored Difficult Conversations and later Thanks for the Feedback (with Douglas Stone), which extends the same framework into how people receive — and resist — feedback. Her work focuses on the emotional and identity dimensions of hard conversations: why being told something accurate can still land as threatening, and what shifts when the recipient takes ownership of the learning process.
